Where: Monksville Reservoir, Ringwood, NJ
Participants: Monica O, Jim G, Rich H, Tina A, Bela D, Mike C, Jim M
Weather: It was a beautiful day for a paddle. About 80 degrees, light winds, and slightly overcast so it wasn’t too hot. The launch area was pretty busy with private boaters and what appeared to be capacity classes by LL Bean.
Monksville was chosen as the place for this paddle since it has several paddle-to geocaches. Most of the participants had geocached before or had some knowledge of it. We discussed a little bit about geocaching and then went off to find the one just off the parking area. Rich, who had never geocached before made the find. Yay Rich!
We then took a nice leisurely paddle around the reservoir chatting and looking for geocaches. The first one was blocked by a lot of foliage that appeared to be poison ivy. We decided to leave that one alone. There was a person fishing very close to the next one, so we decided to come back to that one. It was a busy day on the reservoir.
We found several more geocaches and then stopped at a small island for lunch and a geocache and decided to start heading back.
All in all, a very pleasant day for a paddle.
