Moon Light Paddle On Monksville

Moonlight over Monksville. Just the sound of it sounds so romantic! This was the most perfect night of paddling most of us experienced in quite some time….a quiet night…barely any wind….a beautiful full moon…a great group of paddlers.
Fourteen paddlers…one canoe and the rest kayaks: Dave M., Bob P., Nancy S. Joe B., Lori B., Peter W., George H., Vivienne R., Robyn L., Phil B., Michelle A., Jacquie S., Angel P., and me.
We all met at the South Launch which is the one nearest the dam. Most of us were able to get there in time for a 7 p.m. launch….a few caught up with us shortly after. Everyone had either a headlamp, a C-light, a string of changing flower lights or some other illumination to be seen on the water.
Because this was a very social, evening paddle the group was very casual and we took our time paddling to the other side of the reservoir. The moon was already up. It was pleasant to just “hang out” near the islands on the far side of the reservoir. By now it was dark and the full moon glowed regally. We rafted up long enough for a picture.
Oh, what a night! I’ll drink to that!
