Greenwood Lake Launch and Lunch

Eight members, including one brand new member (welcome Eric Zacharias!), got together on Monday morning for a launch and lunch paddle.
Leaving from the far northern end of Greenwood Lake NY, we used the kayak dock to easily get in the water. Then a short paddle through some greenery led us to a channel lined with homes that leads to the lake. We were treated to seeing a pair of swans with their five little ones, some cormorants, various ducks, a few great blue herons, and of course some Canadian geese. We paddled through the channel and out to the lake where the group left me and my sore shoulder so they could paddle to another channel on the west side of the lake.
The wind was a bit strong, which was good for keeping us cool in the sunshine, but it added a bit of a challenge on the open lake with some good size waves to paddle in. Once they returned, all but our new member, who had to leave, docked at a local restaurant where we had a shaded table with a great view of the lake. Service was slow, but that was OK as it was a beautiful day we were enjoying our stay.
After lunch we paddled back through the channel and used the kayak dock to easily get our boats out. We never even got our feet wet! After loading boats, five of us went to a local creamery for some excellent ice cream. Not a bad way to spend a Monday! In attendance were Peter Walker, Naomi Grobstein, Dave Miller, Claire Miller, Mike Capizzi, Jim Piomibino, Eric Zacharias, and me. Thanks to Mike and Eric for the photos!
