Ore Pond to Dudley Park

The weather was beautiful for our Friday, June 7, Cedar Creek (Ore Pond to Dudley Park) trip. The Western Ave water level guage was at 5.8. The water was warm and topped out at about 5 inches below the top of the Ore pond dam. The high air temperature was about 85 degrees.
We could enjoy the paddle because there were few other paddlers despite the excellent paddling conditions. We saw a few ducks and many small birds. There were only 2 low beaver dams to shimmy over and the concrete Ore pond dam to carry over. Joining me were Jack Bush, Herta Dusebout, Marlene Frankiel, Curt Gellerman, Al Grenley, Sumonnnat Kongchatree, Kathleen Leistikow, Dave Miller, Sue Sadiv (Windmill), Dennis Ng, David Sweet, Debra Sweet, and Rob Zerby. Our group worked well together: advising upstream paddlers on how to navigate obstacles, helping carry boats over the dam, stabilizing boats for reentry below the dam and aiding in recovery after unexpected swims.
