The trip up the NYS Thruway started out with drizzle and temps in the 40's but by lunch the sun was out and in lower 70's, a bright blue sky with little humidity - a spectacular day. Participating in our 12 mile adventure were 17 paddlers and "Daisy", our canine companion. There were several sightings of mature bald eagles including two active nests as well as numerous orioles and a variety of warblers. We also had lunch across the river from an active nest and got to watch the comings and goings of the parent eagles. The entire group also successfully negotiated three sets of rapids and everyone was beaming with pride at their accomplishment. As promised the day concluded with "fine dining" at a favorite eatery in Port Jervis, NY. A terrific day was had by all.
