A great time was had by all!

People were really anxious to go, most boaters were at the launch site early. We had nine kayaks and two tandem canoes and were in the water very quickly.

Within a half mile the road along side turned off and we were alone except for the walkers and bicycles on the towpath.

A few turtles and birds later and we were at East Millstone and the dock. Some took out there and some of the kayaks went under the bridge and took out at a low spot on the left bank. We all sat in the shade and had our lunch (and tried to avoid the poison ivy around the trees.) The blacksmith shop museum was not open that early but the walk across the causeway did allow for a pit stop at the local gas station.

The return trip was easy – going with the mild current – some paddlers hugging the trees along the bank to stay out of the sun.

My thanks to all who helped launching and pulling the boats and to Virginia for acting as sweep.

The score: One beautiful day, three peaceful hours, five easy miles, thirteen happy club members – and one white bag left behind at the put-in. I’ll bring it to the meeting.
