It was a hot and sunny day but with a light breeze that kept us cool on the water (the predicted t'storms held off until the evening). We had a large group (17 kayaks and 1 canoe), so we split into two groups with Mike leading one group along the high tide trail and then back through the "canoe" trail and Nancy taking the other group through the "canoe" trail and then back along the high tide trail. That group then went out into our namesake Hackensack River and paddled down to the marina and back. We saw swallows, geese, ducks, redwing blackbirds, and egrets. Out on the river we saw cormorants. There was also an unidentified swimming mammal (muskrat?)
