Rockaway Creek, Lamington and Ballonfest

Seven of us did an on-again, off again trip last weekend. I had planned to blast it out for the Club on Thursday but the Round Valley release was abruptly due to a drowning incident that afternoon at the lake. On Friday afternoon, I noticed the release had resumed so we met at noon on Saturday in order to do a 7.5 mile paddle and catch the 6:30 flight of balloons from the annual Quikcheck Readington Balloon Festival at Solberg Airport. There was wind so the balloons didn't rise until about 7:30 and then didn't go too far. We had a table at a Rt. 22 rest stop and several put down in a construction site before they crossed the highway. Others passed directly overhead but seemed to descend in some farm fields just beyond our view.
A good time was had by all.
