Swim With Your Boat Day

Fifteen intrepid souls showed up for the 2015 edition of Swim With Your Boat Day. Moring skies were gray with scattered rain showers. A few of us had thunder storms but all was well when we got to Green Turtle Pond. In fact that was the first surprise. The county graded the road down to the put in -- no potholes. You could have driven your Mustang or Lamborghini.

Rich H. explained that all the straps on the PFD were not just for show but actually made sure that it fit properly. After many adjustments so that the shoulder straps didn't ride over the ears we all go wet and let the PFD do the floating for us.

Martin was kind enough to fall out of his canoe and although he kept saying he couldn't get back in because of the saddle (none of us saw a horse) Tom C and Harris R helped him get back in to a well deserved round of applause.

Ted C and Bill B demonstrated wet exits and several methods of getting back into their kayaks. And then it was everyone's turn to give it a try. Dave L. who declared that he didn't even like getting wet did several assisted re-entries.

Next thing we knew it was lunch time and the sun had come out ending another Swim-With-Your Boat day.

Special thanks to Martin, Ted, and Bill for all their help in making this a successful Club activity.
