Split Rock Reservoir by the Numbers
by Jeff Bowen

May 5, 2007

I've never been a believer in numerology, but reviewing the facts surrounding the day trip that some members and I took at Split Rock Reservoir on May 5th, 2007 made me reexamine my beliefs.

THIRTEEN: Usually considered an unlucky number, this was the number of members in attendance.
TWELVE: The number of boats on the trip. Everyone was paddling solo except for the Mulhausers.
ELEVEN: We only had eleven people in the spectacular group photo because George Mulhauser (the new Minister of Synchronized Paddling) had gone ashore to scramble up a rocky overlook to direct us and take a picture. Christine kept watch below in their kayak.
TEN: This is the rating the weather warranted.
NINE: The number of men and the number of kayaks on the trip. Also, about the time we were on the water that morning.
EIGHT: The number of single kayaks.
SEVEN: Usually a lucky number, refers to the time I got up that morning. Also the number of minutes it took the entire party to land and beach their boats for lunch.
SIX: The number of paddlers on the trip who attended with their spouses.
FIVE: May is the fifth month, and the trip took place on the fifth day of that month.
FOUR: The number of female paddlers. Also the number of family groups that attended.
THREE: The number of canoes on the trip.
TWO: The number of PFD's that were loaned to people who had forgotten theirs.
ONE: It was a ONE-derful trip.

So, those are the facts for your consideration. Coincidence? I don't think so.
