Cedar Creek

Peter W., Naomi G., Al G. Summonnat K., Jan R., Ben H., Jen H., Chris K and Jim G. had another beautiful day for "Robyn's Trip" from the Ore Pond Canoe Access to Dudley Park.

This was a leisurely 6.7 mile paddle on Cedar Creek, a slow-moving, narrow, twisty, turny Pinelands stream. Cedar Creek provided a fine sense of wilderness paddling, even though we were never very far from civilization. While the water moves relatively slowly, the narrow stream and tight turns gave us plenty of opportunities to practice maneuvering.

Al G. taking the lead in his canoe shepherded the rest of us in our kayaks over the beaver dam and back into the creek below the concrete dam - and forewarned the bridge jumpers not to jump onto us. Thank you, Al. Also thanks to Ben for paddling "sweep" to ensure we left no one behind and everyone for their help in making the shuttle run smoothly.

Along the way we stopped to enjoy lunch and a cooling dip, as well as a second cooling off break, giving the chance to socialize after the single file padding in the narrow creek. After the trip 6 of us enjoyed dinner and hummingbird watching in the outdoor seating area and colorful garden of the "Shady Rest".
